Who I am
I’m Shirah Brown—Philadelphia-based since 2022, Midwest-built, and the kind of person who commits hard once I care about something. I grew up in Ann Arbor, moved to New Jersey, and learned early what it means to adapt without losing yourself. Philly clicked fast for me: it has edge and soul, and I love the sports culture for the same reason I love the city—grit, loyalty, heart, and showing up even when it’s ugly.
What I’m about
I like momentum, craft, and purpose. I’m happiest when I’m building something real—something people can actually use, live with, and feel proud of. I love a good challenge, I love a clear win, and I love the energy of a team that’s locked in.
How I’m wired
Rutgers was a defining chapter: I studied Organizational Communication and played Division I lacrosse, which trained me for pressure, accountability, and follow-through. Later, living in Princeton and earning my MBA from Manhattan College shaped how I think about ambition and structure—how to aim high without getting lost in noise. I’m an avid cyclist, which is probably the most accurate metaphor for me: consistent effort, strong legs, head down when it’s hard, eyes up when it matters.
Why I do what I do
I’m deeply embedded in community activism because I care about people having access, dignity, and support—not in theory, but in reality. I’m motivated by work that makes things clearer, fairer, and more doable. I’m not here for vibes-only. I’m here for progress.
